Once a thriving textile city, the City of Gastonia has been devastated by the relocation of the textile industry. The Dream Maker is an optimistic sculpture that, at its origin, is a spark of hope for the future. The two pieces inspired by the flight of birds will move with the wind. Paying homage to the city that was once known as the “Spindle Capital of the World”, threads from spindles unwind getting tangled in roots and branches, symbolizing the city’s deep connections with the past and synapses of the brain. Below the sculpture, drifts of cloudlike plants paint a dreamscape for the imagination. Keep Gastonia Beautiful Finalist with Shaun Cassidy.
